Introduction to Valve
Valve Corporation, also known as Valve Software, is an American video game developer, publisher, and digital distribution company headquartered in Bellevue, Washington. Vavle developed Steam, which is their digital distribution platform for shipping games, whilst also having additional features such as reviewing games and social facets.
The dataset that I used for creating the graphs can be found on Kaggle.
Most users spend between 100-200 hours on a game, the graph is not for any game in particular.
This graph shows how frequently users would or would not recommend a game. Most people who made reviews would recommend the game to other users.
An interesting fact from the data I found was that the game with the most helpful review belonged to Battlefield 2042™.
The helpful reviews start from 2000 as this helps to create a better picture of reviews that were very helpful whilst also seeing it a bit clearer from around the zero-100 hours of play.
Dota 2 is a live service game owned by Valve. It was released in 2013. It is still one of the most played games on Steam. This graph depicts all users who made a review both positive and negative within a range of 200 hours.
The graph shows the distribution of positive reviews for Dota 2, in a range of 200 hours.
Conclusion
The reviewing process on Steam could be improved by separating reviews based on technical and gameplay, as there is no distinction between a negative review written due to tech difficulties and gameplay unless the person has specified in the review.
